Signs your Citrus Park bathroom is due

Most homes here are 20 to 40 years old, which is about when original bathrooms start showing their age in ways that go beyond looks. If you are seeing any of these, it is worth getting a professional opinion.

  • Cracked or yellowed fiberglass tub and shower surrounds
  • Grout that stays dark no matter how often you clean it
  • Soft spots in the floor near the toilet or tub
  • A vanity with swollen particleboard under the sink
  • No exhaust fan, or one that does not clear the mirror

Two baths, one project

Many Citrus Park homes have a primary bath and a hall bath built at the same time with the same finishes, so they wear out together. Remodeling both in one project usually means one permit, one round of mobilization and a single schedule.

We sequence the work so one bathroom stays usable while the other is under construction. That keeps the household running and avoids a week of borrowing the neighbor's shower.

Doing both also keeps finishes consistent. Choosing tile, vanities and fixtures for two rooms at once lets you create a matched look, or deliberately different looks for a primary and a guest bath, without trying to match a product that has since been discontinued.

Making a bathroom work for aging parents

Many Citrus Park owners are planning for a parent to move in, or simply want to stay in their home for good. The bathroom is where that plan succeeds or fails.

Common changes include replacing the tub with a low-threshold or curbless walk-in shower, adding blocking in the walls for grab bars, installing a fold-down or built-in bench, raising the toilet to comfort height and widening the doorway where the framing allows. Our tub-to-shower and aging-in-place guide walks through the choices, and our walk-in showers page covers the options.

Permits and inspections

Citrus Park is unincorporated Hillsborough County, so bathroom permits typically come from the county. Replacing a shower valve, moving a drain or adding circuits normally needs a permit and an inspection before walls are closed. We file the paperwork and meet the inspector. Confirm current rules for your address with the county building department.

You get a written, line-item proposal with a projected timeline and one project manager from start to finish. See our main bathroom remodeling page for more on scope.

Permits for Citrus Park projects

Citrus Park is unincorporated Hillsborough County, so remodeling permits usually go through Hillsborough County Development Services. Work involving plumbing, electrical, structure or additions typically requires a permit and inspections, which we handle as the licensed contractor. Confirm the current requirements for your address with the county building department.

We had a great experience with Dean from Green Home Remodeling. He did our kitchen and master bathroom, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Dean was easy to work with, always communicated with us, and the price was very reasonable. He did a great job and made the whole process much easier. We would definitely recommend him!

July 2026 · St. Petersburg

Green Construction built a new pool bathroom for us to compliment the new pool we are having built in St. Petersburg Florida. While a small project, an addition to the rear of the home, it still required all the requisite sub- contractors - foundation, framing, walls, roof, plumbing, electric, mechanical, paint, tile and cabinets. The cost was very competitive and fair. Dean managed the project and was fantastic -he communicated constantly with us, coordinated with his sub- contractors efficiently, dealt with St Pete inspectors professionally, and also coordinated with our pool contractor ensuring the bathroom addition was done on time, and it did not interfere with the separate pool construction project. The addition was done so seamlessly that you would never know there was an addition to the home. Dean is very personable , friendly and accommodating. We met each other for the first time at tye pre- construction meeting - strangers at first we have become friends. That is not typically to become friends with your contractor - and I think it speaks volumes about him and Green Construction I highly recommend Green Construction and specifically working with Dean !

FAQ

Bathroom Remodeling in Citrus Park: FAQ

Have a question we did not answer? Call (813) 536-3976 and talk to a project manager.

Can a curbless shower work in a Citrus Park home on a slab?

Often, yes, but it may require recessing part of the slab or using a linear drain with a carefully sloped floor. We check the slab and plumbing during the estimate and tell you what is practical before you commit.

Is a walk-in shower a good fit for a hall bath?

It depends on whether another tub remains in the house. If the hall bath has the only tub and you have young children, we may suggest keeping it and focusing the walk-in shower on the primary bath.

How close is your office to Citrus Park?

About 5.9 miles. We are at 6601 Memorial Hwy in Town 'n' Country, so a site visit or a quick check on tile layout is easy to schedule.
